NEW LOOK RAMS PLAY FIRST GAME

BINFIELD 4 BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 3

The new look Beaconsfield SYCOB, under the guidance of Andy Hurley and Nas Bashir, made their playing debut at Binfield FC yesterday and both sides put in a decent shift in what was an entertaining match.

The Rams team featured Sam Bunting, Zak Martin, Tom Gant, Tom Willment, Charlie Hill, Ollie Jones, Ashley Kelynack, Aaron Berry and Olli Beazley amongst a host of others your reporter has yet to learn the names of! Jones gave them the lead on five minutes with a good turn and shot and the initial exchanges saw the youthful Rams team well on top. Binfield did pull one back on 12 minutes via Johnson but generally the first 45 saw encouraging play from SYCOB and they could and should have easily added to their solitary strike.

The start of the second period saw The Rams race into a 3-1 lead as two goals from Aaron Berry put them into a comfortable position. However a spate of subs by both sides saw Binfield take a grip of the match and they notched up three goals against a tiring SYCOB to take the game 4-3.

There was certainly enough on show to encourage the new management that they have the core of a good team and with some players still to return from holiday (Lee Togwell, Lee Thompson to name two) the signs are that Beaconsfield SYCOB could well prove to be something of a dark horse in the forthcoming season.

Next up is a Barnet XI on Tuesday 5th August at Holloways Park with a 7.30 kick off before the Central Division season gets underway on Saturday 9th August with a home game against Bedford Town.

Come On You Rams!
