Rams Complete League Double Over Fleet

BEACONSFIELD TOWN 2         FLEET TOWN 0

Rams Man Of The Match: LUKE NEVILLE

Beaconsfield stayed in second place after this victory over a Fleet Town side who will feel they should have left Holloways Park with at least a point.

The visitors Chris Wales nearly put his side in front on six minutes when he beat Ravan Constable to the ball but his header went just over. Two minutes later the home side took the lead as Fleet failed to clear a corner that bounced around their area before Wes Daly volleyed it past Liam Beach to chalk up his seventh goal of the season.

Baj Pashaj then went very close to doubling the score on fifteen minutes, his effort flying across the face of the Fleet goal. The remainder of the half, however, saw neither team really test the other’s keeper. The home side saw numerous moves break down and were probably a tad guilty of over playing whilst Fleet, Toyoshi Olusanya in particular, looked lively on their rare attacks.

On 50 minutes Olusanya forced a good save out of Constable whilst sixty seconds later the returning Nathan Webb saw his fine curled effort turned away by Beach. On the hour mark Olusanya went on a mazy run and fired off a shot that struck the very corner of The Rams bar whilst sub Tre Mitford went very close with a header from a Scott Cousins cross for Beaconsfield.

The Rams woodwork was again rattled by a fine Fleet strike on 69 minutes and their goal was certainly leading a charmed life ten minutes later when Olusanya chipped Constable only to see his effort bounce back off the inside of the post when a goal seemed certain.

Jerome Eccleston saw his 82 minute header cleared off the Fleet line before, in the last minute, Tre Mitford broke free to rifle home a second goal much to the relief of the home support.

Two weeks ago at Holloways Park Beaconsfield played really well and ended up empty handed against Thame. Today they were well below par and yet emerged with all three points. It’s a funny ol’ game football, eh!

Come On You Rams!
