RAMS OUT OF BOTTOM THREE WITH POINT AT GODALMING

GODALMING TOWN 1 BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 1

Beaconsfield and Godalming met for the fourth time this season and like the previous three encounters this was a tightly fought contest with little to choose between the two evenly matched teams - though the fact G's keeper Richard Ossai was Man Of The Match indicates The Rams might have just shaded this instalment!

A relatively uneventful first half nearly came to life on 32 minutes when ex-Ram Tom Willment fell over in his own half and Romaine Walker latched onto the loose ball but his shot was wide. On the stroke of half time Aaron Berry made space for himself and got a shot away but his effort hit The G's side netting.

The second period saw the tempo increase from both teams, Godalming going close with a header on 47 minutes and Walker having an effort cleared off the line on 49 minutes for The Rams. The introduction of Adam Cornell on 55 minutes by Godalming gave their front line a much more dangerous look and within ten minutes he'd set up Darren Wheeler to slot the ball past debutant Rams keeper Brenden Hazlett after a pacy one touch break by the home side.

The lead didn't last long though as Ollie Jones, playing well in an unfamiliar left back slot, managed to get a cross in that fell to Elliott Carey at the edge of the box and his shot flew into the Godalming net.

The last ten minutes saw Ossai make a great double save, first from a Walker shot and then from the follow up by Kofi Lockhart-Adams and the resulting corner saw The G's No.1 make a flying save from an Alex Murray header. Ashley Kelynack then shot the ball across the Godalming goal line but somehow Kofi failed to connect with it.

Godalming then hit The Rams bar twice in the last minute, the first effort coming from a sliced clearance by Murray and the second from a header by Cornell. Heart stopping moments for both sets of supporters!

This valuable away point for The Rams moves them out of the bottom three albeit on goal difference. It was a good solid performance from all the players and as the mix of experienced and Academy players starts to gell SYCOB should chalk up the points to move away from the danger zone.
