Unbeaten Away Run Comes to An End

CHALFONT ST.PETER 4            BEACONSFIELD TOWN 2

Rams Man Of The Match: AARON MINHAS

Beaconsfield’s ten game unbeaten away run was finally brought to a halt by neighbours Chalfont St. Peter who in the process completed a League double over The Rams.

The first real action came in the 11th minute when Goldy Capella ran into the box and was hacked at by a Chalfont defender. Instead of going down for a sure fire penalty he stayed on his feet but the chance was gone. Ten minutes later ex Ram (and Man Of The Match) Victor Osobu converted a Callum Woodcock cross but it was struck off for offside. Four minutes later the same combination repeated the same move and this time it did count, one nil to The Saints.

Another ex-Ram, Chalfont keeper Carl Dennison, then made two superb point blank saves from Jordan Ajanlekoko and Aaron Minhas on the half hour mark to keep his side in front. Michael Peacock then saw his header saved by Dennison on 33 minutes and three minutes later the home side were two up as Osobu left The Rams defence standing to leave Frankie Jones with a simple tap in.

Osobu then brought out a fine save from Beaconsfield’s Ravan Constable on 40 minutes before, on the stroke of half time, Dennison made a fine save to deny a Luke Neville header.

The second period saw the home side content to soak up The Rams pressure and attack on the counter and on 76 minutes this paid dividends as some awful Beaconsfield defending let in Osobu who set up Woodcock to punish the visitors with a calm shot past Constable.

Five minutes later Osobu found another hole in The Rams defence to set up Ben Ward-Cochrane for goal number four. The score-line was eventually given some respectability from a Beaconsfield point of view on 86 minutes when Goldy Capella sent a superb free kick sailing over the head of Dennison. Then, in stoppage time, Wes Daly pulled another one back with a fine strike but sadly it was a case or to little too late for the visitors.

This was Beaconsfield’s first defeat in nine League games so no need for any panic button to be pressed. A heavy game schedule in January will give a better indication of the what the end of season holds but for now, fifth place with games in hand on most of the other challengers is a nice place to be in.

Come On You Rams!
