Unbeaten Away Run Continues

AFC DUNSTABLE 2      BEACONSFIELD TOWN 2

Beaconsfield’s unbeaten away run continued with a fine, hard earned, point at AFC Dunstable though both sides will feel that they had enough chances to have won the game.

The home team started strongly and if they had been three up on 20 minutes The Rams could have had little complaint. As it was, only an 11th minute header by Jermaine Hall separated the sides as Jamie Norris made a fine save to deny Nathan Frater on 15 minutes and BJ Christie shot narrowly wide on 18 minutes.

The Rams first effort on goal came on 27 minutes when a scuffed Aaron Minhas shot was comfortably saved by Jamie Head but they got back on level terms on 31 minutes when Dan Brown beat the off-side trap, ran down the wing and pulled the ball back for Lewis Putman. He controlled and half volleyed in one movement to give Head no chance. Lovely well worked and taken goal.

The second period started with Beaconsfield on top and they were awarded a penalty on 55 minutes after Bellotti was impeded in the area by the AFC keeper. Up stepped Putman to fire past Head and put The Rams in front.

The home side, however, equalized on 59 minutes after a good flowing move saw Nathan Frater somehow poke the ball past Norris. The Rams keeper then made a decent save on 73 minutes to keep the scores level but on 80 minutes it looked like the game was about to swing Dunstable’s way as they were awarded a penalty after Luke Neville was adjudged to have fouled an attacker. Luckily for The Rams the normally reliable Hall blazed his effort over. Phew!

Aaron Minhas then had an effort go inches wide on 84 minutes and the very last minute saw sub Kofi Lockhart-Adams a have a great chance to win it but he delayed his shot and his effort was blocked.

This was a highly entertaining Friday night game from two decent footballing sides who both have aspirations of being “in the mix” come the end of season shake up. On this showing,  they both will be.

Come on you Ram!
