Beaconsfield started the game brightly, and could have taken the lead when Mack Maskin’s free kick looked destined for the net, only to be saved by Sheppey keeper Harley Earle. Earle again denied Beaconsfield as Blaaze Lawrence was played through on goal only to see his effort saved. Shortly after his heroics, the Sheppey keeper went down injured. He tried to play on but looked visibly distressed. He played on till the break, but Sheppey were forced into a change, and with no keeper on their bench, had to put defender Ethan Cole between the sticks for the second half.

Beaconsfield looked to test the makeshift keeper early on, and it did not take long for them to take advantage of the situation. Freddie Ford struck the ball from distance, comfortably beating Cole, and giving Beaconsfield a deserved 1-0 lead in the 53rd minute.

Beaconsfield pushed to double their advantage but began to see themselves pushed back deep into their half by the away side. The pressure eventually proved too much for the hosts. Danny Leonard poked the ball into the net to level the tie with a minute left on the clock.

With the tie all square at 1-1, the game went straight to penalties. Beaconsfield would have been confident of a win after a solid effort, with Sheppey having a defender in goal.
Beaconsfield captain Charlie Smith stepped up first, but saw his spot kick hit the post, before Mamadou Diallo gave his side the lead. Lawrence scored for Beaconsfield, as did Miskin and Mekhai Bessasa – Grant, before Beaconsfield keeper Eze Ifekoya saved Leonard’s penalty to level it 3-3 in the shootout. Unfortunately for the hosts, despite another Ifekoya save, they missed two chances to take the lead with Reuben Whittaker and Courie Coley both putting their efforts over the bar. Alex Peapel scored to keep the hosts in the contest, before Ramon Rose saw his shot hit the bar. Mikey Salako stepped up and slotted his penalty away to see the game end 4-5 on penalties, with the Kent side progressing into the next round.

Beaconsfield are back in league action on Bank Holiday Monday with an away trip to Didcot Town.
