BIGGLESWADE TOWN 2-1 BEACONSFIELD TOWN

Craig Anderson4 Apr - 18:34

BY ARRAN WHITE

Beaconsfield lost 2-1 away to play off hopefuls Biggleswade Town, despite a hard fought attempt at a second half come back.

Windy conditions caused Beaconsfield problems, and that coupled with a defensive error gave Biggleswade their opener. Coree Wilson pounced on a failed clearance in the box and fired his side in front. Another mistake minutes later saw the hosts double their lead when
Rian Silver headed in. Beaconsfield had a chance as the half drew to a close, but Aaron White’s header from a corner was saved by the home keeper.

The second half saw an inspired Beaconsfield try to mount a come back. A tighter game gave both teams limited shots on goal. Beaconsfield gave themselves a chance of a fight back with Nnaemeka Anyanwu showing skill and pace to best his man before putting the ball perfectly in the air for Manu Oke-William to head in to the net. Beaconsfield looked the better side for large spells of the half, coming close to levelling the tie twice, first substitute Bethel Nwokorie had the ball cleared as he looked to shoot in the box on his first team debut, before Ollie Turner’s strike from distance flew narrowly wide. There were strong calls from Beaconsfield for a penalty for handball with a few minutes left but the referee was unmoved and Biggleswade went on to see the final moments off the game out and take the win.
