Beaconsfield secured three much needed points with a home victory – yes, a home victory! – over Hanwell Town courtesy of a strong second half display.
The visitors featured ex-Ram Keeper Sam Bunting making his debut and he made himself instantly popular with The Gerodies faithful when he saved Wes Daly’s seventh minute penalty, awarded when Dan Brown was bundled over in the box. That was the main highlight of a generally poor first half in which both sides had too many misplaced passes and a severe lack of cutting edge though Bunting was the busier of the two keepers.
Manager Gary Meakin obviously provided the right inspiration in his half time team talk as within ten minutes of the restart The Rams were two goals to the good!
On 51 minutes new signing Goldy Capela broke through on goal but delayed shooting and so gave Bunting the chance to clear. The resulting corner then saw Dan Brown rise highest to powerfully head home. Three minutes later a fine flowing Rams move saw Daly set up Scott Cousins and he ran into the box and sided footed past Bunting to put The Rams two goals up. The home side should have had a third three minutes later but over played the final ball and the chance went begging.
Jamie Norris was rarely troubled in The Rams goal, Luke Neville marshaled the defence well, Wes Daly and Aaron Minhas made sure the midfield was solid and up front Capela looks like he could be useful. The Rams have played better at home this season and lost so these three points will do very nicely thank you!
Come On You Rams!
