Stotfold and Beaconsfield drew 1-1 in tough conditions at The JSJ Stadium.
Stotfold took the lead in only 2 minutes, as Beaconsfield left Lewis Thomas unmarked at the back post and he headed in to give his side the lead.
After the goal, Beaconsfield dominated possession and will have felt unlucky to enter the break still a goal down, with Courie Coley having the best chance for the visitors to equalise.
In the second half, Freddie Ford had a perfect chance to equalise for Beaconsfield but was denied by last-ditch defending from Stotfold. As the game progressed, Beaconsfield again controlled possession and finally found the equaliser they had been chasing in the 56th minute. A ball over the top to Courie Coley gave him a chance to run into the box, showing good strength to hold off defenders before pulling it back for Giulio Marroni to finish with a fierce shot from just inside the box.
Beaconsfield pushed for the winner, but with the wind making it hard, they struggled to make their pressure count.
In the dying moments of the game, Stotfold’s Matty Harriott had the chance to steal the points, but his effort was saved in spectacular style with a phenomenal save from Beaconsfield keeper Eze Ifekoya, tipping the shot over the bar when Harriott’s effort had looked certain to hit the back of the net.
