Rams Man Of The Match: STEFAN POWELL
Beaconsfield chalked up their 17 th away victory of an incredible season with a comprehensive rout of Egham Town and moved back to the top of the table with just one game to go.
On a bumpy pitch, both sides initially struggled to get any sort of rhythm going and an over fussy ref didn’t help matters for either team - the first action of any note saw Luke Neville booked on 25 minutes for what no one knows!
Jordan Ajanlekoko put a header just over on 32 minutes and then on 38 minutes Baj Pashaj set up Tony Mendy and his fine shot across the face of goal missed the target by mere inches. Sixty seconds later, however, Mendy collected a long pass, turned his marker inside out and hit an unstoppable volley past Matt Nolan, a quality goal from an in form striker.
A mistake in The Rams defence on 43 minutes let in Egham striker Lauric Diakiesse and Brendan Hazlett had to make a good save to deny him an equalizer. The keeper also made a fine stop from the resulting corner to ensure The Rams went in at half time a goal to the good.
The home side were back on level terms five minutes after the break after a mishit clearance fell to Ashley Lodge and he did well to instantly fire the ball into an unguarded net. That, however, was as good as it got for Egham as The Rams moved up a gear – on 57 minutes Kezie Ibe beat the Egham offside trap to calmly slot past Nolan and three minutes later a long free kick by Luke Neville found Reece Yorke who knocked it to Mendy and his cheeky back heel took Nolan by surprise to put the visitors 3-1 up.
Three became four on 64 minutes as Ibe again beat the off side trap to latch onto a long ball and stroke it past Nolan who was audibly frustrated with his defenders. A superb run by Baj Pashaj on 68 minutes saw his effort cleared off the line whilst a minute later Mendy sent a header just wide after a good cross from James Taylor.
Tre Mitord was brought on in place of Mendy on 75 minutes and with his first touch he sent a 25 yard effort flying past Nolan, an absolute screamer. 5-1 to The Rams!!
With an away game at Marlow to come Beaconsfield sit proudly atop the Evo Stik League South, East division. What a great feeling that is!
Come On You Rams!
