RAMS GIVE GREENFORD THE BLUES!

NORTH GREENFORD UNITED 1 BEACONSFIELD TOWN FC 5

The Rams returned to winning ways with a convincing victory over North Greenford United in the first round of the Red Insure League Cup.

The first effort of note came in the sixth minute when Jack Read sent one wide and it was followed ten minutes later by a good strike from Ryan Debatista which tested Cristian Pal in The Blues goal.

North Greenford's Ike Nzuruba hit the Beaconsfield bar with a good effort on 17 minutes and sixty seconds later The Blues Danilo Cruz brought out a good save from The Rams fourth keeper of the season, Mohammed Sampat.

The Blues also had an effort cleared off the line by the hard working Alex Murray on 36 minutes whilst The Rams best chance of the first period came on the stroke of half time when Debatista saw a good effort met with an equally good save by Pal.

The second half was only a minute old when Sam Deadfield jinked through the Greenford defence and sent in a cross that gave Aaron Berry a simple tap in. Berry, five minutes later, then saw an effort hacked off the North Greenford line but he wasn't to be denied his second goal on 57 minutes when Debatista's run and pass set him up well to smash past the home keeper.

North Greenford pulled one back on 65 minutes when a sloppy bit of play by Beaconsfield on the half way line allowed Tariq Humaid the chance to run on and chip past Sampat though the keeper did well to at least get a hand to it.

Any thoughts of a Greenford fight back were snuffed out on 67 minutes when The Rams were awarded a penalty after Read was chopped down in the area. The striker picked himself up to take the kick which he smashed past Pal

Three minutes later it was 4-1 as Read shot through the keeper's legs after some good build up play by Beaconsfield. Berry nearly completed his hat-trick on 76 minutes but his shot fizzed across The Blues goal.

The Rams were reduced to ten men on 80 minutes when debutant centre half Sonnie Low received a second yellow but Beaconsfield refused to be put off their stride and after Berry had missed a golden chance on 81 minutes it was left to sub Omari Patrick to complete the scoring as he ran onto a good Berry pass to fire past Pal.

After three consecutive defeats this was a good morale boosting victory for The Rams, even more so as it gave some of the 'fringe' members of the squad a chance to show what they could do. Low (up to the sending off) and full back Jordan Ford in particular did their cause no harm and Debatista looks like he could be well placed for a regular starting berth.
