SYCOB SNEAK WIN AT AFC HAYES!

AFC HAYES 0 BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 1

AFC Hayes and Beaconsfield SYCOB fought out an entertaining, evenly matched game that The Rams managed to emerge with three points from to add to the nine already achieved - another 28 and we should be save from any relegation worries!

A goal-less first half saw both teams create half chances - Sam Graley and Nathan Poulton combined well on fifteen minutes for a near miss and the returning Victor Osobu had a shot in anger two minutes later. Another new signing, Anthony Thomas, also had a near miss whilst at the other end AFC Hayes, very quick on the counter attack, especially Tashan Jordan, had a couple of half chances.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first - SYCOB would make a chance then AFC Hayes would hit back though both Poulton and Osobu would feel they had the best of the exchanges.

Substitute Bilal Butt went close on 65 minutes and a minute later James Reading made a great save to keep Hayes out and thirty seconds on from that Osobu went on a run that nearly brought a goal. The Rams eventually broke through on 68 minutes when captain Yiadom Yeboah managed to shin (!) the ball in through a crowded area after a SYCOB corner. It was going to take something special or odd to break the deadlock and Yads shin was certainly odd!

The last twenty minutes saw some heavy Hayes attacking and resolute Rams defending. James Reading was on form to deny The Brook attack and the last minute saw a total melee in the SYCOB box - how the ball never went in I don't know (and neither did the perplexed AFC Hayes fixture secretary!)

This was a hard earned three points for The Rams. Last season we came here and lost 6-0 so it was a marked improvement. There's a good team and good spirit developing - the future looks bright!

Next up, on Saturday 7th September with a 3 O'clock kick off at Holloways Park, is a Calor Gas League Central Division match against our old foes from Marlow. Should be a cracker!

Come On You Rams!
