A week on from a dismal defeat at home to Cox Green Colts, the Buffalos returned to Wooburn Green Lane Sports Field to host league leaders, Bucks Pumas, in what would be their 4th consecutive home fixture of the season. The Pumas, meanwhile, had maximum points from their opening two games, having won 5-0 at home to Hazlemere Sports Wanderers last weekend.

With vice-captain, George Michell, running a 10km race prior to kick-off, Tom Martin started in midfield alongside Reuben Lin while a shuffled back four saw captain, Keiran Kurd, shift to centre-back alongside Joshua Morris. Matt Eteen's absence also meant a first start of the season for Charlie Rose in goal.

Beaconsfield would look to frustrate their opponents in the opening phases of the game and while they did have some success, it was the visitors who opened the scoring in the 15th minute. A well delivered free-kick from the left-hand side was midjudged by the Buffalos defence and although Charlie Rose got a hand (possibly two!) on the ball, it was dislodged by a Pumas attacker who bundled the ball into the back of the net.

Thankfully, the Buffalos were not deterred and they continued to create panic throughout the Pumas defence thanks to a well-coordinated press. Just when it looked as if the tide was beginning to turn, however, a clumsy coming together between Keiran Kurd and a Pumas attacker was deemed a foul by the referee and resulted in the awarding of a penalty. The prospect of a two-goal deficit seemed mightily unfair but it wouldn't materialise thanks to a brilliant penalty save from Charlie Rose!

Come the half-time break, Beaconsfield would be relatively satisfied with the 1-0 scoreline and remained confident in their game plan. They started the second period the brighter of the two sides and it wasn't long before the equalising goal. After numerous turnovers in the opposition half, the Buffalos were eventually rewarded with a well-deserved goal as Maximus Rees poked the ball through for Tom Stables to clinically finish with his weaker foot.

It could've, and arguably should've, been even better for the Buffalos as not long after, Martin Filipov found himself through on goal and was taken out by a reckless challenge from the Bucks Pumas goalkeeper just outside the box. The ball, ironically, would end up in the back of the net and so a straight red seemed the obvious outcome but bizarrely the referee reached for a yellow and the resulting free-kick was put wide!

The final 15 minutes failed to provide a decisive goal despite being an end-to-end affair and while the Buffalos may feel aggrieved about a number of refereeing decisions, they'll be relatively pleased with a point.
