Beaconsfield Town U13 Kites got their Division 7 campaign underway on Sunday with a 3-3 draw against Ickenham Bulldogs at Wilton Park.

It was a really even game from start to finish, with both teams working hard and neither side giving much away. The Kites started well and took the lead after 12 minutes when Callum put a great cross into the box and Arvin got on the end of it with a strong header to make it 1-0.

Just three minutes later, the same two combined again. Callum found Arvin with a pass and Arvin finished with a low driven shot to put the Kites 2-0 up.

Ickenham pulled one back in the 23rd minute, but the Kites went into half-time with a deserved 2-1 lead.

The second half started well again and the Kites made it 3-1 in the 35th minute. Max put in a dangerous corner and Armaan was in the right place at the right time to finish it off from close range.

Ickenham kept pushing and got themselves back into the game with an unbelievable strike into the top corner in the 46th minute.

From there, the Kites had to dig in and defend their 3-2 lead. They worked hard, stayed switched on and looked like they were going to see the game out, but with pretty much the last kick of the match, Ickenham won a corner and headed in the equaliser to make it 3-3.

It was a tough way to finish the game after being so close to taking all three points, but a draw was probably a fair result from a really evenly fought match. The effort from the whole team was there for the full 60 minutes and no one gave up.

There were also some really strong individual performances throughout the game. Charlie was brilliant and seemed to win every header and every one-on-one he went into. Our goalkeeper Jack made several important saves, while Jack worked non-stop at left-back and put in a massive shift.

Ariyan also had a really good first game for the Kites. He worked hard throughout and slotted into the team like he had been there for ages. Both Jack and Ariyan can be really happy with their debuts.

Overall, it was a really positive first game of the season. Plenty of good football, loads of effort and a lot to build on going into the next match.
