YEAR 12&13 - Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development

This qualification is intended as a 2-year programme for post 16 students. It is equivalent to up to 3 A Levels and is intended for those wanting to progress directly into employment as a coach.

In addition, the breadth of content in this qualification allows learners to progress to a large variety of Higher Education and Degree level courses.

IT equipment is provided for a Modern online learning environment.

Lastly, you will also study towards your FA Level 1 Coaching & referee courses, with the opportunity to study for Level 2.

**WORTH UP TO 3 A LEVELS**

Applied Coaching Skills

Sport Development

Sports Psychology

Self-employment in Sport

Nutrition for Physical Performance

Practical Sports

Marketing Communications

 

Entry Requirements:

5 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above (including English and Maths)

If you have grades 3 or below you will need to continue to study on GCSE or functional Skills, depending on the grades you have obtained.

We provide weekly taught lessons with a specialist tutor, where students are supported in how to pass the appropriate examination, provided with feedback on completed work and guidance on how to improve.

Course Structure:

A typical week for a level 3 student is made up of 16 hours of study, with the rest of the time dedicated to work experience. Learners work alongside highly trained staff to gain relevant experience of sports coaching and PE delivery.

Our modern, tutor supported, online courses are designed to prepare our students for a career in football and for those wanting to take their education further provide the qualifications needed for university entry.

The BTEC Level 3 in Sport (Football) allows students to develop a broad knowledge of the technical, coaching and business aspects of sport. BTEC Level 3 provides the foundation to allow students to move forward into the many specialist areas of the sport and football industries.

BTEC Level 3 delivers a holistic approach to sports education and is the foundation for a career in football. Top marks on the BTEC Level 3 is worth 168 UCAS points (3 A* at A-Level) for university applications.

Upon completion of their Level 3 BTEC in Sport, we plan to offer our students the option to continue with us through to degree level course in house starting in September 2021.

 

Career Progression:

A substantial number of students progress to university each year.  Popular undergraduate courses include Sports Science, Sports Development, PE Teaching and Sports Psychology, as well as Business and Management programmes.

**THERE ARE NO EXAMS IN THESE LEVEL 3 QUALIFICATIONS**

Beaconsfield Town Academy students are provided with an immersive educational experience. Delivered at our Holloways Park stadium the course includes studying for a Level 3 BTEC, achieving the FA level 1 coaching badge and work experience all delivered within the football club environment.

The Academy also has a full-time chef, preparing breakfast and lunch for students daily. This program is offered to the students to provide nutritious meals which are matched to their daily needs in an active environment.
