AWAY DAY JOY AT UXBRIDGE!

UXBRIDGE 1 BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 3

Beaconsfield's great away form helped to turn a one goal deficit into a relatively comfortable victory and stretched their unbeaten run to seven games.

As usual The Rams started well and as early as the third minute had the ball ping ponging in the Uxbridge box with both Jon Jo Bates and Zak Joseph having a go to try and stab the ball home. Jack Hutchinson was the main outlet for The Rams attacks with a host of runs down the right flank but the final ball just kept evading the SYCOB strike force.

On 24 minutes, very much against the run of play, Uxbridge took the lead when Dave Thomas was allowed to wriggle his way into the SYCOB box and his cross struck the outstretched leg of Kurtney Brooks and shot past James Reading. Ten minutes later Reading pulled off a great save to keep The Rams in it and this seemed to spur the team on and, indirectly, led to some sustained pressure by Beaconsfield which finally resulted in a goal, Aaron Morgan threading a great pass into James McCluskey's path and he calmly but firmly struck the ball past Paul McCarthy in the Uxbridge goal.

The second period began with wave after wave of SYCOB attacks and they should have had a penalty when Zak Joseph was upended but Ref Robin Cox gave The Rams nothing all game. The second goal did finally come on 52 minutes when Hutchinson broke into the box and slipped the ball to Jon-Jo Bates who had no trouble converting from six yards.

The two teams then traded attacks with Uxbridge hitting the bar on sixty minutes, Jack Hutchinson having a good run and shot two minutes later and Reece Yorke heading against The Reds bar from a Nathan Poulton free kick on seventy minutes. The Rams goal led something of a charmed life for a short spell with James Reading making a couple of good saves whilst a great run and shot by Uxbridge's Danny Julienne hit the post and bounced to safety on 72 minutes. The same player had another attempt a minute later whilst an Uxbridge corner led to Mark Dennison heading against the SYCOB bar.

Uxbridge's concerted effort to find an equaliser left them open to a SYCOB counter attack and in the 90th minute a strong run by debutant Tom O'Regan led to a chance for Kofi Lockhart-Adams that was saved by McCarthy but fell kindly for Arraon Morgan who tucked the ball home to give Beaconsfield a deserved 3-1 victory.

Now, if The Rams can just turn their great away form into a few more victories at home they really will be in with a chance of the Play Offs!

Come On You Rams!
