AWAY DAY JOY FOR RAMS!

KEMPSTON ROVERS 0 BEACONSFIELD TOWN FC 2

Beaconsfield really turned the form book upside down with a hard fought and richly deserved victory at high flying Kempston Rovers.

As early as the 12th minute new (impressive) Rams signing Jack Lyons hit the home sides post as Beaconsfield set out their attacking intents. However, Kempston are not in the Top 5 without reason and on 16 minutes Ash Fuller shot just wide whilst three minutes later a free kick by Sam Johnson brought out a decent save from Sam Bunting. Dom Marsala also went close for The Walnut Boys on 26 minutes but it was Beaconsfield who took the lead - on 35 minutes Ollie Jones controlled a decent cross, beat one defender and just as it looked like the chance had gone he managed to shoot past Martin Conway in the Kempston goal.

Rovers Danny Watson had a glorious chance to level the scores on 43 minutes but headed over from less than foot out. That miss came back to haunt Kempston as barely sixty seconds later a free kick by Ryan Hill was palmed away by Conway but fell invitingly to Lee Rushe who fired home for his first Beaconsfield goal. It was almost three to The Rams at half time as (Beaconsfield man of the match) Callum Bunting got on the end of a determined run and cross by Lyons but saw his effort well saved by Conway.

The second period was always going to be a lot tougher for The Rams as Kempston had no choice but to up the tempo and come at their visitors. Beaconsfield had to play on the break away and on 54 minutes one such chance came the way of Ryan Hill and he really should have at least forced Conway into a save but seemed to be caught in two minds and the chance went begging.

Sixty seconds later a "melee" stopped play for around three minutes as Ref Hart briefly lost control. When order was restored Callum Bunting saw a half chance sliced narrowly over on 61 minutes and Hill had another break away run on goal.

Rovers pegged Beaconsfield back for long periods but the defence, led by Guri Demuria and ably assisted by Lee Rushe, threw themselves at every attack and when Kempston did get through, as in the 80th minute with Munashe Sundrie, Sam Bunting dealt with it.

This was for sure an unexpected but gratefully received three points for Beaconsfield. A good hard working performance across the park brought its rewards. Hopefully this will instil the belief and confidence in the team and supporters and the whole club can kick on for the rest of the season.
