CASS BRACE EARNS SAINTS THE POINTS

BEACONSFIELD TOWN 1                     CHALFONT ST. PETER 2

For the third time in just over a week The Rams of Beaconsfield faced The Saints of Chalfont and whilst the home side had proved successful in the Emirates F.A. Cup it was the visitors who would prove victorious in this Evo Stik South East League fixture.

Chalfont started the game strongly with Gary Burrell having a good run into The Rams area on two minutes and he probably should have scored instead of shooting wide. For The Rams, Spencer Bellotti had a header turned over by Carl Dennsion on 11 minutes and ten minutes later, after Dennison had spilled a shot by Aaron Minhas, Bellotti’s follow up seemed to roll along the line and out of harms way.

Beaconsfield did take the lead on 27 minutes and it was that man Charlie Losasso who again got on the score sheet - for the fifth game in a row - as he shot through a crowded area and past Dennison. The lead didn’t last long, however, as on thirty minutes the dangerous Jake Cass got between two Rams defenders and fired past Jamie Norris. Three minutes later Cass was at it again as Ref Ivan Gelov allowed play to continue after a Rams foul and Cass ran on to again use the outside of his boot to send the ball past Norris. Two chances, two quality strikes.

The Rams pressed hard for an immediate response, Bellotti and Jerome Eccleston both sending headers just over whilst Losasso on the stroke of half time hit a beauty that cannoned off the top of the post.

The second period, as expected, saw Chalfont sit back to defend their lead and then attempt to catch The Rams on the break. Beaconsfield’s best chance of the half fell to Luke Neville on 73 minutes when he rose to meet a Losasso corner but his header lacked power and direction and the chance went begging.

The home side did get the ball in the net twice but both times it was disallowed, once for a push and once for offside. It just wasn’t going to be their day, as was further proved when a late Bellotti header hit the outside of the post.

A win, a draw and a defeat is what the three games bought both sides and they’ll be glad to see the back of each other for a few months – the return fixture isn’t until Boxing Day!

Come On You Rams!
