Rams Man Of The Match: LUKE NEVILLE

Beaconsfield Town were crowned champions of the Evo-Stik League South, East after earning the three points needed to ensure they couldn’t be caught be AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

The hosts for sure made life difficult for The Rams, Sanchez Cammock forcing a save out of Brendan Hazlett on three minutes and their general ‘physical’ style of play not allowing the visitors to settle into their normal pattern of play though Callum Webb responded for Beaconsfield on ten minutes, bringing out a good save from Marlow stopper Simon Grant. A meandering game then came to controversial life on 38 minutes when after some toing and froing in The Blues area Jerome Eccleston stooped to nod the ball well over the line only to see it scooped out by Marlow and play continue as none of the officials felt it had crossed the line!

Thankfully this was not to prove decisive as on 53 minutes a corner from Baj Pashaj was met by a strong header from Eccleston. Grant got a hand to it but couldn’t hold it and Lee Barney was able to swivel and slam the ball in to the net. Was it Goal Of The Season? No, but it was most certainly a Golden Goal as despite some late Marlow pressure, it proved enough to ensure that no matter what Rushden did, they couldn’t topple The Rams.

The celebrations of the players, squad members and coaching staff at the final whistle will live long in the memory of everyone connected to Beaconsfield Town F.C.  Our ‘little’ club has made it to Step 3 of the football pyramid, the highest it has ever been. It has a young, visionary manager with a hard working back room team. It has a close knit squad who will be more than capable of holding their own in the level above. It has ambitious but sensible leadership off the pitch and it has a dedicated band of supporters that will surely see their numbers grow. In short, Beaconsfield Town has ‘It’ and ‘It’ has won the East Division title.
