CUP RUN COMES TO AN END

BEACONSFIELD TOWN FC 0 BRACKLEY TOWN 5

Beaconsfield's history making F.A. Cup run finally came to a halt at the hands of higher placed opponents Brackley Town though the final score-line was harsh on The Rams who until the 80th minute were still very much in the game.

In front of a noisy but good natured crowd of 495, Brackley took the lead on five minutes when Alex Gudger pulled the ball back for Steve Diggin to head powerfully past Sam Bunting. Despite the early setback, however, Beaconsfield didn't crumble and fashioned a chance of their own on ten minutes as Nathan Minhas saw an effort deflected over the bar.

In truth though Brackley had the better of the half with semi decent chances for James Armson on 17 minutes and Stefan Moore on 31 minutes as well as a couple more for Diggin and at one nil down at half time The Rams were still in with a shout.

The second period started at a frantic pace as Ollie McCoy sent an effort inches wide of the top corner on 46 minutes whilst Sam Bunting had to be brave to smother an effort from Diggin sixty seconds later. Diggin also sent a header just over on 54 minutes whilst the busy Ryan Hill brought out a great save from Laurie Walker on 55 minutes as Beaconsfield enjoyed a decent period of possession and pressure.

David Pitt was introduced by Brackley on 72 minutes and within ten minutes the forward was tripped in the box by Callum Mapley, the resulting penalty calmly slotted home by James Armson. Five minutes later Pitt danced and shrugged his way past The Rams defence to slip the ball past Bunting and ensure his side progressed to the First Round of the F.A. Cup, two late goals via a shot by Claudio Dias and a tap in by Lee Ndlovu putting the icing on the Brackley cake against a visibly tiring Rams side.

Everyone connected with Beaconsfield - players, staff, officials and supporters - should be proud of their part in the cup run and it has for sure raised the clubs profile both locally and nationally. It's now time to take the cup form into the League and get some points on the board and move up the table.
