DUNSTABLE TAKE THE POINTS

BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 2 DUNSTABLE TOWN 3

SYCOB were left scratching their heads at how they failed to come out of this clash with fellow Play Off contenders Dunstable Town without at least a point to show for their efforts. If they'd converted all their chances they would have won comfortably. Dunstable, however, did take their only three real chances and went home to Beds with the three points.

The first thirty minutes saw both teams create a series of half chances that came to nothing with both sides enjoying decent passages of play - it was easy to see why they are both in the Top Five. The first real chance of any note came on 34 minutes when Jordon Ajanlekoko saw a looping header bounce back off the Dunstable bar and into the grateful hands of keeper Jamie Head. This was followed a minute later by a good run by Jack Hutchinson but he shot wide from quite a tight angle.

Dunstable also had their moments and they finally made one count in the 40th minute when the dangerous Chris Marsh made space for himself in The Rams area and curled a beauty past James Reading after a previous effort had been beaten away by the SYCOB stopper.

On the stroke of half time ex SYCOB player Kyle Anthony made a clumsy challenge in the Dunstable area and (the excellent) Ref Adrian Gillett had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Up stepped Zak Joseph to convert with ease. Half time, one each.

The second half saw The Rams really up the ante and Jack Hutchinson should have scored when put through on 50 minutes. Tom O'Regan also had a decent shot, Nathan Webb forced a save out of Head....the SYCOB chances went begging but the Town ones didn't and on 64 minutes another run and cut in by Marsh saw the winger fire his second of the night past Reading.

Back came SYCOB and Zak Joseph had a header cleared off the line and Hutchinson again hit one over the bar. It felt like it was going to be one of those nights and on 76 minutes that was confirmed when Nathan Frater made it 3-1 to Town with a low shot that evaded the diving Reading.

To their credit The Rams didn't give up and Kofi Lockhart-Adams scored after a good run and cross by Zak Joseph. Final whistle, 3-2 to Dunstable.

A disappointing result maybe but not a disappointing performance by any means - convert some of the numerous chances they are making from some of the quality build up play and soon The Rams are going to give someone a real hiding.
