EGHAM TOWN 4 BEACONSFIELD SYCOB1

EGHAM TOWN 4 BEACONSFIELD TOWN FC1

A mad ten minutes in the early part of the second half put paid to any hopes Beaconsfield had of halting their losing run by taking something from this game at Egham.

A relatively even first half saw both sides initially failing to hold onto the ball for long enough periods to make any telling strikes on goal though Ollie Jones did put a shot
narrowly wide on 28 minutes. As the half wore on it was Egham who got their act together first and on the stroke of half time a quick one-two wrong footed the Beaconsfield defence and Chris Moore fired past Brendan Hazlett.

The second half began with The Sarnies on the offensive, Jordan Berry and Moore both having early strikes on The Rams goal. A free kick just outside the Beaconsfield box on 56 minutes, however, gave them the opportunity to extend their lead and this they did as ex-Ram Ryan Phillips bent the ball past the wall and past the diving Hazlett, a quality strike.

Four minutes later the busy Bajram Pasaj took advantage of hesitancy in The Rams defence to pull a seemingly lost cause ball back to Brendan Matthew to tap home from all of six inches. Sixty seconds later, before the shell shocked Rams could regroup, they went a further goal behind as Pashaj made the most of another defensive howler to put Egham 4-0 up and out of sight.

Beaconsfield reverted to a more comfortable four man defence and brought on Spencer Maw and immediately looked a better side. A determined 66th minute run by Ollie Jones led to a pass to Charlie Losasso and he continued his rich vein of form by adding to his collection of quality strikes and firing past Jamie Norris in the Egham goal.

Losasso also had a corner cleared off the line on 81 minutes and Guri Demuria was denied a clear penalty seconds later as Beaconsfield piled on the pressure but in doing so they left themselves open to the counter attack and Egham should have added to their tally but were undone by some over excitable finishing (thankfully!).

For the last twenty five minutes Beaconsfield looked the better side. There are eight games left to go this season and they should be aiming for a (deserved) Top Ten finish. A full strength side would help their cause so....Come On You Rams!
