HOME RUN COMES TO AN END

BEACONSFIELD TOWN FC 1 EGHAM TOWN 2

Beaconsfield's unbeaten home run in the league finally came to an end at the hands of a resurgent Egham Town.

On a wet and windy Holloways Park evening both sides played decent football, with chances for both teams going begging. On eight minutes Charlie Losasso had a tame effort saved by Jamie Norris whilst a minute later Egham had a good shout for a penalty waived away by ref Tim Donnellan.

Jack Read sent a shot across goal on 14 minutes whilst Egham's Brendan Matthew forced a good save out of young Beaconsfield stopper Billy Collins on 28 minutes. Ex-Ram Reece Yorke went very close with a header one minute later whilst Omari Patrick brought a good save out of Norris on 32 mins.

The second period began in explosive style as within the first thirty seconds Jack Read cut in from the right and curled a beauty past Norris to give The Rams the lead. It was a lead, however, that lasted less than five minutes as Bajram Pashaj got on the end of decent cross to power a header past Collins.

The main turning point of the match came in the 61st minute. Omari Patrick cut in from the left and fired a shot that brought a great save from Norris. The keeper then set up an attack that thirty seconds after he made the save from Omari saw Matthew slot home to give The Sarnies the lead.

Another great save by Norris on 65 mins, this time from Aaron Minhas, kept his side's lead intact and the keeper also made a good save, again from a Minhas effort, on 76 minutes. Beaconsfield's best chance of an equaliser came on 87 minutes when an Elliott Carey cross from the right gave Charlie Losasso a free header but the normally reliable forward somehow put it wide.

A good game in difficult conditions from two proper footballing sides. The Sarnies, under Ex-Rams boss Gary Meakin, are on a roll at the moment whilst a depleted Beaconsfield side are still playing decent football and causing the opposition problems. On this showing, both sides should be in the mix come the end of the season.
