CHALFONT ST.PETER 2 BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 1

With SYCOB having lost only once in the League away this season and Chalfont not having won any of their home league games you just knew that the Football Gods were going to interfere in this game - and sure enough they did!

With Jon Munday becoming The Rams third captain of the season (replacing the benched Yiadom Yeboah and the "absent on England duty" Craig Carby), SYCOB started brightly and should have had a penalty as early as the fifth minute with blatant shove on Haule unpunished by Referee Gregory Read. James McCluskey went close as did Jon Munday but on 17 minutes the Footballing Gods via Ref Read awarded a penalty to Chalfont for either handball, an elbow, pushing or just because he felt like it! No one appealed from Chalfont but they were all cheering when Scott Fitzgerald put the spot kick past James Reading.

The Gods were at it again fifteen minutes later when a comedy of errors, miskicks and bounces led to the ball pinging off Brad Hewitt and past a stranded Reading. 31 minutes gone and 2-0 to Chalfont.

The Rams managed to get back into the game and for a short spell they played some neat one touch football which on 41 minutes resulted in a one two between Haule and Aaron Lansiquot that allowed Haule to chalk up his third goal for The Rams in just three games.

The first twenty minutes of the second half saw both teams cancelling each other out. Chalfont did force a good save out of James Reading on 65 minutes and hit the bar with the follow up whilst SYCOB played passage of good passing football that was let down by poor crosses. Brian Haule narrowly failed to get on the end of one of them and Kyle Matthews was flagged for offside when clean through on goal even though he was clearly onside.

It was that sort of day for SYCOB - dodgy decisions and an unfortunate own goal though in truth they never played anywhere near as well as they did against Ashford Town and at most should only have earnt one point from this game when two hours earlier, before the Gods interfered , three points seemed a certainty.

Next up it's away to Thatcham Town in the First Round of the Red Insure Cup on Tuesday October 15th with a 7.45 Kick Off. Post Code is RG19 4PA
