MIS-FIRING RAMS KEEP UNBEATEN RUN GOING

BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 1 LEIGHTON TOWN 1

SYCOB dropped two precious home points against lowly Leighton Town after failing to turn their overwhelming superiority into a winning margin and then falling victim to a debateable decision that gave The Reds a share of the spoils with literally their only shot on target.

The Rams started sprightly with Jack Hutchinson having half a chance on two minutes and a decent Nathan Poulton corner being turned over five minutes later. On ten minutes a Poults free-kick was headed back across goal by the industrious Zak Joseph leaving Kofi Lockhart-Adams to nod the ball home from about six inches out.

The half continued with SYCOB near to doubling their tally on numerous occasions - Jon-Jo Bates hit a fierce shot just over the bar, Craig Carby crated a good chance with a run and a cross and Zak Joseph hit the post after a great run and shimmy through the Leighton defence - if it had gone in it would have been a Goal Of The Season contender.

Leighton failed to register a single effort worthy of the name and to go in only one goal up at half time seemed a poor return for The Rams total dominance.

The second period saw the visitors strengthen their defensive formation to keep The Rams at bay though Zak Joseph did have a decent effort cleared off the line on 63 minutes and Jon-Jo Bates hit one just over the bar five minutes later.

Failure to convert any of their glorious opportunities left The Rams vulnerable to a sucker punch and it came on 85 minutes when (over fussy) Ref Adam Bayliss gave Leighton a penalty for an offence he alone seemed to notice. Ben Gallant had no trouble dispatching the spot kick, the only time Rams keeper James Reading had to face an attempt by The Reds for the while of the game.

On the plus side, SYCOB's unbeaten run is now six games. If they can convert just a few of the many chances they are creating they can turn draws like these into victories and start climbing the table.

Come On You Rams!
