MOLES GET BETTER OF RAMS

AYLESBURY 3 BEACONSFIELD TOWN FC 1

Beaconsfield's five game unbeaten run came to an end at Aylesbury, a combination of a very poor playing surface, an experienced physical opposition and an appalling "performance" by Ref Tim Donnellan all contributing to The Rams downfall.

It was 18 minutes before either side recorded a shot of any note. an effort by the impressive Gareth Price whizzing just over Sam Bunting's bar. Twelve minutes later and Beaconsfield's first real chance saw an Aaron Minhas shot deflected into the path of top scorer Aaron Berry and he calmly slotted the ball over James Weatherill.

The Rams lead didn't last long though - on 33 minutes Sam Bunting made a good save from a shot by Price and the resulting corner caused consternation in the Beaconsfield defence, eventually falling to Jeanmal Prosper to shoot past Bunting and even the scores.

The second period began with a harsh booking for Jack McKnight - for seemingly fouling himself! - which, added to the two Moles first half bookings, had both teams and their supporters questioning the (in)decisions of the officials.

Aylesbury are not on the brink of the Play Off places without reason and experienced forwards Brian Haule and Ed Smith led the young Rams defence a merry dance in the early stages of the second half. They somehow failed to score on 53 minutes as the ball zipped around the Beaconsfield six yard box and Haule brought a good save out of Sam Bunting on 69 minutes.

The game as a contest changed dramatically on 80 minutes however - by which time The Rams had picked up two bookings and The Moles four yet not a single bad incident to report. Beaconsfield Sub Callum Bunting tussled with Danny Gordon for the ball with both players tugging at each other, a real six of one and half a dozen of the other incident. Callum ended up with a torn shirt and a straight red card whilst Gordon only earnt a yellow card. If both had received a red, fair enough, if both had got a yellow, fair enough, but one a straight red?

Two minutes later a ball over the top of The Rams defence fell kindly for - you've guessed it! - Danny Gordon and he shot past Bunting to put The Moles ahead. A clearly rattled Rams then went further behind five minutes later when Price latched onto a long ball to beat the Beaconsfield rearguard and shoot past Bunting. Game over.
