MOLES TRIP UP RAMS

AYLESBURY 3 BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 3

SYCOB finally moved off 53 points at the fourth time of asking with a 3-3 draw away at Aylesbury but instead of coming home with just one point they should have returned with all three as yet again they failed to convert the numerous chances they created. This was Aylesbury's first home game since mid December due to all the floods and in truth the awful pitch played as big a part in disrupting Beaconsfield's style of play as did the Rams failure in front of goal.

As early as the fifth minute SYCOB were on the attack with an O'Regan free kick testing James Weatherill in The Moles goal. Eight minutes later O'Regan set up Brian Haule who really should have scored against his old club and once again The Rams faithful feared it might be "another one of those days". However, on the quarter hour mark Lee Grant got on the end of a Haule cross and headed SYCOB into the lead with his first goal for the club.

Over the next twenty minutes The Rams had many great chances to extend their lead with Haule having a good shot saved, O'Regan also forcing Weatherill into action and Jon-Jo Bates also missing a relatively simple chance. They were made to pay in the 35th minute when some poor defensive work by The Rams let in Gareth Price who put a decent shot past James Reading.

Still The Rams continued to make and spurn chances, one decent turn and shot by Bates in particular that should have restored the lead for SYCOB. They did finally convert one in the 39th minute when Haule stabbed the ball home following a bout of ping pong in the Aylesbury six yard box. However, they couldn't hold onto the lead as on the stroke of half time keeper Reading was deceived by an awkward bounce and his weak clearance fell to Connor Baker to slot home.

The Moles came out fired up for the second half and on 51 minutes ex-Slough striker Danny Burnell got on the end of a cross to put Aylesbury ahead for the first time. To be fair The Rams never let their heads drop and continued to make presentable chances. On 63 minutes a good run by Jack Hutchinson led to a chance for Bates that was saved by Weatherill but sub Kofi Lockhart-Adams was following up and smashed the ball home to make it 3-3.

The Rams continued to batter the Aylesbury defence for the rest of the game with Haule and Kofi both having good chances to snatch all three points for SYCOB but once again it wasn't to be.

On an awful pitch a weakened SYCOB team still made enough chances to win two games. If they can just convert a small percentage they'll turn draws like this into much deserved wins.
