NO JOY ON THE ROAD FOR THE RAMS

ST. IVES TOWN 3 BEACONSFIELD TOWN FC 1

Beaconsfield returned from the long journey to St. Ives having played considerably better than in the previous week's fixture at Leighton but still without any points to show for their endeavours.

The Rams started brightly with plenty of possession - Tristan Campbell forced a fine save out of Tim Trebes on 18 minutes whilst three minutes later Ryan Debattista also saw an effort saved by Trebes. One particularly good move on the half hour mark by Beaconsfield really did deserve a goal but the final effort was put wide by Sam Deadfield.

St. Ives are also a good footballing side and they also enjoyed a lot of possession. Brendan Hazlett in The Rams goal - the fifth custodian of the season - made very good saves in the 33rd minute from Steve Gentle and five minutes later from a Luke Knight long distance shot. 0-0 at half time but could easily have been 2-2.

The second period was a different matter altogether. St. Ives seemed the more direct and purposeful and on 50 minutes got their reward when a cross from a free kick into The Rams area eluded everyone bar Jared Cuniff who stooped to head home.

On 65 minutes it was 2-0 as a great free kick by Phil Draycott flew past Hazlett and the game was over three minutes later when Danny Watson got on the end of a free kick from the left to slot past Hazlett.

The Rams did pull one back on 73 minutes when a Sam Deadfield free kick took a strong deflection to leave Trebes stranded. Sub Aaron Berry saw an effort on 90 minutes scrambled away by Gentle whilst seconds before the final whistle Ben Seymour-Shove ran half the length of the pitch but put his effort inches wide of The Rams goal.

With four home games on the trot coming up The Rams must try to halt the losing streak and the slide down the league table. A bit more directness added to the possession football might well do the trick.
