RAMS BACK TO WINNING WAYS

CHERTSEY TOWN 1 BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 2

In a dour encounter Beaconsfield came away from Alwyns Lane with three vital points to stop their recent rapid decline down the league table.

The first thirty minutes were the highlight of the game and a period in which all three goals were scored. The Rams were quickly into their stride and creating some early chances, with Zak Joseph at the heart of most them and causing the Chertsey defence all sorts of problems. On 21 minutes the pressure paid off when after a good team move the ball was played to new signing Kofi Lockhart-Adams who spun his marker on the 18 yard box and fired in a crisp shot into the top of the Chertsey net.

This certainly roused The Curfews who responded well to going a goal down and within five minutes they were on level terms - some fine play by Tom O'Regan led to a pass to Chertsey's veteran striker John Pomroy who made no mistake and in the process scored Chertsey's first goal in seven games.

In the past Beaconsfield might have lost confidence but not this time as three minutes later, after some excellent build up play, the ball was played through to John Christian who calmly slotted home for his first Rams goal and in the process restore SYCOB's lead.

Chertsey battled well in the second half to try and find an equaliser and pushed more players forward which in turn allowed Beaconsfield to counter attack but only the lack of a final touch prevented them scoring a third goal which would have effectively killed the game off. Things were made slightly more comfortable for The Rams when Chertsey defender Joe Green was sent off in the 77th minute for "serious foul play",a sure sign that Chertsey were getting frustrated with not only this game but their season so far.

As it was The Rams held on to record another away win and their first league points for over a month. Let's hope they can build on this result with another three points in Saturdays match against Aylesbury
