RAMS EMPTY HANDED AT UXBRIDGE
UXBRIDGE 3 BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 2
SYCOB left Honeycroft not quite sure how they came away with nothing to show for their efforts, particularly in the second half.
Uxbridge started the livelier of the two teams that's for sure and on three minutes a cross was misjudged by Jordan Chandler and fell invitingly for Craig Tomkins who's strong shot beat Sam Bunting at his near post. A minute later the SYCOB No.1 made the first of many good saves whilst on eight minutes Chris Moore blazed over Buntings bar when well placed.
SYCOB were not in the game at all in the first twenty or so minutes and on 22 they found themselves further behind when Moore got on the end of a Christopher cross to smash the ball past Bunting.
At 2-0 down The Rams finally woke up and Omari Patrick registered his sides first effort on 26 minutes with a shot just wide. Three minutes later Ollie Jones hit the Uxbridge side netting and on 36 minutes a great free kick by Elliott Carey was met by an equally great save by Rourke Pickford. The half finished with Julian Owusu mis-hitting a shot that was misjudged by Pickford and struck the Uxbridge post much to the relief of the Red Army custodian.
The second half started with The Rams going at Uxbridge from the off - within sixty seconds Owusu turned his marker and fired a ferocious shot that had Pickford well beaten but not the bar and it cannoned off to safety. On 55 minutes, however, a Lee Togwell corner caused chaos in the Uxbridge area and Omari Patrick was on hand to prod the ball home. The fight back was on!
On 61 minutes Ollie Jones got on the end a good ball out of defence to calmly place a shot past Pickford and from 2-0 down SYCOB looked to all intents to be about to go on and win the game and Aaron Berry had a half chance on 68 minutes but it was only half hit.
Uxbridge were forced to camp in their own half for quite a long period - however, they are an experienced team and on 74 minutes, after a bit of ping pong in the Rams area, Wayne Carter crashed the ball home to restore the Red Army lead.
Having lost the lead once they weren't about to do it twice and Uxbridge used all their know how to see the game out much to the relief of the (sparse) home crowd.
On the positive side, the second 45 showed just what The Rams can do and they really should have had at least a point for their efforts. If they can perform like that without having to go two goals down then they really will start to chalk up some much needed points.
