Rams Enjoy Another Day on the Road

GOSPORT BOROUGH  2          BEACONSFIELD TOWN 3

Rams Man Of The Match: ANTHONY MENDY

The Rams enjoyed another great day on the road as they returned from a warm and welcoming Privett Park with three more points in the bag.

The early exchanges were fairly even, both sides sizing the other up. On 12 minutes, however, a cross by Tony Mendy was spilled by Borough keeper Pat O’Flaherty and fell to the onrushing Alex Cathline to nod home.

The Rams were playing some nice flowing football but just as it looked like they would dominate proceedings, the home side equalized when, on 22 minutes, the ball ricocheted around the Beaconsfield box before Pat Suraci pounced and sent a curling effort past Ravan Constable.

Seven minutes later Suraci sent a free kick just over the bar whilst at the other end Tony Mendy saw a 34th minute header saved by O’Flaherty. A good Gosport move on 41 minutes ended with Suraci firing over whilst the busy Mendy spun his marker on 44 minutes but fired over the bar.

He did hit the target on 48 minutes as he showed great strength and pace to hold off his marker and his fierce shot gave O’Flaherty no chance, 2-1 to The Rams.

A fine break by the visitors on 61 minutes saw Baj Pashaj set up Charlie Losasso but his effort was well saved by O’Flaherty who also did well to beat out another effort by Mendy sixty seconds later.

However, a softly conceded free kick on 74 minutes gave Gosport a way back into the match as Captain Tony Lee beat Constable to the ball and nodded into the unguarded net.

The Rams still looked the better of the two sides and they took the lead for a third time on 82 minutes when, after some fine work by Pashaj, Losasso followed up on a spilled shot to slot the ball home. Fellow substitute Brendan Matthew nearly made the game safe two minutes latter but his positive run through the home defence saw his final shot go just wide.

The final minutes of the game saw The Rams reduced to ten men when Nathan Webb was sent off for a second yellow following a foul. They did, however, manage to see the game out and deservedly claim all three points.

Nine league games into the season and The Rams are more than holding their in the Premier South Division.
