Rams Give Barking the Blues!

BARKING 0      BEACONSFIELD TOWN 2

Beaconsfield progressed to the Second Qualifying Round of the Buildbase F.A. Trophy with a solid if unspectacular away win at Barking.

Missing several players for a variety of reasons The Rams took the game to their hosts and nearly had the lead on 11 minutes when a well worked free kick fell to Luke Neville who headed the ball back only to see the final shot scuffed. Would have been a cracking goal!

The ever busy Aaron Minhas had a shot on 22 minutes whilst on the half hour mark AJ brought out a good save from Ollie Bowles in the Barking goal. A header from Dan Brown went close on 38 minutes – The Rams were having a lot of the play and creating all the chances but unable to finish any off!

That changed on the stroke of half-time. Brown ran through on goal and was held back by Toib Adeyemi. As last man and denying a goal scoring opportunity this meant a red card for the Barking No.5 who up till then had been their best player. The resulting free kick was taken by Captain Wes Daly and it gave Bowles no chance.

With the hosts a goal and a man down the scene was set for Beaconsfield to really put their opponents to the sword. On 49 minutes a good Rams move saw Dan Brown set up Minhas whose composed strike flew past Bowles to put The Rams two up. That, though, was the end of the scoring though Kofi Lockhart-Adams really should have made it three on 78 minutes but was denied by another fine stop by Bowles.

The fact keeper Jamie Norris never had a save of note to make over the 90 minutes showed just how much Beaconsfield dominated proceedings, particularly after Barking were reduced to ten men. The brilliant away run continues and The Rams have reached the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy for their first time in their history.
