Rams Put Generals to the Sword
BEACONSFIELD TOWN 7 CHESHAM UNITED 0
Rams Man Of The Match: ANTHONY MENDY
Beaconsfield Town gave their ‘Goals For’ column a major boost as, spearheaded by a Tony Mendy hat-trick, they ran riot over local rivals Chesham United.
The visitors could have taken the lead in the early stages as veteran Jefferson Louis saw an effort hit the top of the bar on two minutes and sixty seconds later Bradley Clayton saw a good strike met by an equally good save by Ravan Constable. Once The Rams settled into the game, however, there was no stopping them.
On 15 minutes the in form Mendy broke through The Generals defence to send a powerful shot into the top corner of Alex Tokarczyk’s net. Nine minutes later he ran onto a through ball and calmly chipped the keeper and he completed a quick fire hat-trick two minutes later when he slotted past The Generals custodian. Twenty six minutes gone and The Rams and Tony Mendy three goals to the good.
Apart from a 43rd minute Louis shot Chesham offered little in the way of attacking threat – any they had quickly snuffed out by the Rams defence – whilst they always looked vulnerable defensively to a counter attack. Their many travelling supporters were not happy.
Chesham did hit The Rams bar on 51 minutes before Mendy responded by hitting The Generals post on 57 minutes. Sixty seconds later the visitors forced a fine save from Constable but somehow put the follow up well wide of a gaping goal. That miss probably summed up their evening and it was made worse on 62 minutes when good work by Baj Pashaj set up Charlie Losasso to fire home goal number four.
The fifth goal came on 64 minutes when an alert Pashaj robbed Tokarczyk in his own area and calmly beat the despairing keeper. Pashaj could have had a second on 81 minutes but his fine run and curled strike were well saved by Tokarczyk. Four minutes later Lossaso grabbed his second as a good run and cross by Omar Vassell was knocked on by Dan Brown for Losasso to control and slot home.
The seventh and final goal came on 88 minutes when substitute Brendan Matthew was taken out by the visitors keeper and centre half. He picked himself up to put a perfect penalty beyond the hapless Tokarczyk.
This was the biggest win in the short history of Beaconsfield Town and moved The Rams up to eighth place in the table. Though Tony Mendy deservedly won Man Of The Match for his goals and all round performance, the award could have gone to any of The Rams players who all put in a decent shift. Long may it continue.
Come On You Rams!
