Rams Run Riot Over Tangerines!

BEACONSFIELD TOWN 5         ASHFORD TOWN 0

Rams Man Of The Match: REECE YORKE

After a two week weather enforced layoff The Rams returned to action in some style, a blistering first 45 minutes performance ensuring that they had the points in the bag by half-time.

The visitors started quite brightly and for the first quarter of an hour were probably the better side. Once The Rams got in to their stride, however, they looked dangerous every time went they forward – none more so than the returning Lee Barney who made the most of a poor back pass on 23 minutes to put the home side ahead. Alex Cathline should have doubled the lead three minutes later but put his header just wide when well placed.

Beaconsfield did double their lead on 35 minutes when a superb Wes Daly free kick found Reece Yorke and his header looped over Tyler Tobin in The Tangerines goal. Two minutes later Tobin made a decent double save from efforts by Barney and Baj Pashaj but he was powerless to stop Cathline’s fierce shot on 39 minutes which came at the end of a fine passage of play by the home side.

On 41 minutes the busy Barney was hacked down in the area. Pashaj made no mistake from the spot and Beaconsfield went in four unanswered goals to the good at half -time.

The second period was always going to be a less dramatic one and to give them credit Ashford had a lot of the play as The Rams sat back knowing the points were won. Wes Daly saw his 61 st minute shot well turned over by Tobin though a mistake by Rams keeper Brendan Hazlett on 62 minutes nearly saw Ashford claim a consolation goal. They might also have had one on 73 minutes but Tom Howard put his header over instead of under the bar.

The final minute saw Rams debutant Tony Mendy get onto a through ball and coolly stroll past Tobin to put the home side five up which for sure helps the Goals For column!

Across the park The Rams, especially in the first half, performed well as a team and they retained second place in the table. Ten games to go, thirty points to play for – Come On You Rams!
