Rams Man Of The Match: RAVAN CONSTABLE

Beaconsfield returned from the long journey to South Wales with three more hard earned points that see them move up the giddy heights of sixth in the Evo Stik League South Premier South table.

In bright sunshine The Rams quickly got to grips with The Martyrs 3G pitch though it was the home side who had the first chance of note when, on 16 minutes,  determined play by the lively Kerry Morgan set up top scorer Tom Meechan but his shot was scuffed and easily dealt with by Ravan Constable. Sixty seconds later and Tony Mendy got in behind the home defence and chipped keeper Jo Perry though his effort also narrowly cleared the bar. A minute later and Baj Pashaj set up Mendy but his shot was tipped onto the post by Perry.

Ian Traylor for The Martyrs then saw a decent effort go inches wide of the visitors post on 34 minutes whilst four minutes later Ravan produced a super stop to deny an effort by ex-Swansea City player Lee Lucas. In reply a Wes Daly free kick was nodded on by Reece Yorke and found Charlie Losasso who’s turn and shot hit the post and then fell kindly for Perry to clear. Nil-nil at half time but it could have been two apiece.

The second period began in similar fashion to the first, both sides playing quality football and creating and missing decent chances. On 56 minutes Constable made an incredible save to deny a shot by Meechan whilst Mendy saw his 59th minute strike dealt with by Perry. A Morgan effort on 63 minutes again brought a good save from Ravan who also made a superb double save on 76 minutes that brought applause from both sets of fans. His quick distribution from that save found Tony Mendy who in turn found Brendan Matthew who nipped in front of Perry to slot home and put The Rams a goal to the good.

There was still time for more heroics from Constable as well as for a half chance for Brendan Matthew and then for Jordan Ajanlekoko to bravely block a goal bound effort as The Rams saw the game out.

This game, but for some fine goal-keeping and defending, could easily have been four-four and maybe a draw would have been a fair result. It was Beaconsfield, however, who made off with the points and in the process chalk up a third League victory on the trot.

Come On You Rams!
