Rams up to Third with Victory Over Ducks

BEACONSFIELD TOWN 3 AYLESBURY UNITED 2

Rams Man Of The Match: WES DALY

For the second home game in succession Beaconsfield allowed a commanding two goal lead be clawed back by their opponents. However, unlike in the game against Northwood they managed to dig deep and scramble a last ditch winner to take all three points and move up to third in the table.

Right from the first whistle The Rams were on top and they should have been two up after the first two minutes! First Goldy Capela shot across the face of a gaping goal and then Aaron Minhas saw his shot cleared off the line by The Ducks keeper Jack Sillitoe. They finally made the breakthrough on 14 minutes, however, when Wes Daly played Capela in and the forward slotted the ball under Sillitoe.

Apart from a 16th minute attack that was blocked by Michael Peacock The Rams were totally in control and grabbed a deserved second goal on 33 minutes. Andre Costa saw his effort come back off the post, Goldy’s follow up did likewise before Minhas shot from 18 yards went in, again with the aid of the post. In fact, it should really have been three to the home side at half time but Peacocks header from a 41st minute corner hit the bar and went over.

The second period was only two minutes old when the visitors were right back in the game as Tre Mitford made the most of beating the offside flag to slot home past a previously untroubled Ravan Constable. The goal gave a considerable boost to The Ducks confidence and they enjoyed far more possession and looked a lot more dangerous than in the first 45.

Rams sub Dan Brown should have scored for the home side on 67 minutes but his side footed effort was well saved by Sillitoe. Brown also put a great chipped effort just wide two minutes later whilst Capela’s 74th minute effort hit the sided netting.

United, however, kept up their pressure and got a deserved equalizer on 78 minutes when Mitford was left unmarked at a corner and calmly put the ball into the back of The Rams net.

Just as it looked as though the points would be shared Beaconsfield took an 86th minute free kick which bobbed around the United area before eventually finding the head of Mitch Gutteridge who guided it past Sillitoe much to the relief of The Rams faithful.

This was Beaconsfield’s first “double” of the season. It keeps them well in touch with the League pacesetters and extends their current unbeaten run to seven games. Mission accomplished in this game, now onto the next challenge!

Come On You Rams!
