Rams Win On The Road Again

THAME UNITED 1        BEACONSFIELD TOWN 2

Beaconsfield returned from the ASM Stadium with three points, an away stats column that reads played four won four and with their unbeaten run stretching to five games. Hosts Thame United will, however, feel aggrieved that they didn’t get at least a share of the spoils as they certainly created enough chances to have secured a point.

The Rams started well enough and on thirteen minutes Jerome Eccleston saw an effort hacked off the Thame goal line. The resulting Charlie Losasso corner then fell to Luke Neville who nodded home his first goal in Beaconsfield colours.

The early setback didn’t faze the home side and they took the game to their opponents, John Dennis having decent half chances in the 22nd and 30th minutes whilst Dan West really should have scored in the 42nd minute after some good build up play by Thame.

The second period saw both side’s trade and waste possession in equal measure with little to test either keeper. That changed on 67 minutes when, after an effort sixty seconds earlier had skidded across the face of The Rams goal, Ellis Hercules rose to nod home the resulting corner.

This seemed to wake The Rams up and within five minutes they had retaken the lead as another Losasso corner saw Jordan Ajanlekoko head his first goal of the season. An Elliott Carey long range shot was then followed by a determined run by Aaron Morgan and his cross found Kofi Lockhart-Adams and his overhead kick went mere centimeters wide – it would have a been a goal of the season contender had it gone in!

The last five minutes saw Thame press hard for an equalizer and on two occasions in the very last minute they had two great opportunities to do so though with both attempts they managed to head over rather than under the bar.

The Rams were certainly not at their best but they still managed to do enough to take the points and if they can continue to do that then when they really hit top form they will be more than a match for the top teams in the division.

Come On You Rams!
