STALEMATE AT NORTH GREENFORD

NORTH GREENFORD UNITED 0 BEACONSFIELD TOWN FC 0

Beaconsfield came home from a just about playable Berkeley Fields on a freezing Tuesday night with a clean sheet and a valuable away point. Considering the conditions that was probably a fair reflection on the nights work.

As early as the second minute Aaron Berry put an effort wide after some good play by Callum Bunting and Ryan Haugh. The busy Tim Wohlfiel put in a great cross two minutes later that no-one could connect with whilst on eight minutes Haugh saw his goal bound effort deflected wide. From the resultant corner Tristan Campbell saw his shot cleared off The Blues line - the first ten minutes really were all Beaconsfield.

North Greenford may be bottom but they are a better side than their position indicates and after soaking up the initial Rams pressure they came more into the game with the tricky Glen Yala going close on 13 minutes and Sam Bunting making a good save five minutes later whilst on 28 minutes Liam Hind saw his curling shot go just wide.

The Rams kept to their passing game though the boggy surface did its best to interrupt at awkward moments. Berry did miss a couple of half presentable chances and The Rams did get the ball in net just before half time but Callum Bunting's effort was ruled offside / ball had gone out of play depending on which official you asked.

The Blues Hind had a good effort saved by Sam Bunting on 46 minutes whilst two minutes later Sam Deadfield brought out an equally good save from Lewis Todd in the Greenford goal. Both sides then traded periods of possession without really forcing either keeper into significant saves. The last minute did see sub Tope Fowudu have an effort pushed wide by Todd but generally the conditions were doing their best to negate any quality.

Whilst this feels very much like two winnable points dropped their were still a lot of positives to be taken from the game for Beaconsfield. The fine debut by Ryan Haugh, the smooth transition to fill in for Alex Murray by Mark Ethelston, the sound defending by Guri Demuria and Tim Wohlfiel and a 20 minute appearance by Charlie Losasso, his first in a Rams shirt since getting injured in early December. With a couple more players soon returning from suspension and injury hopefully Geoff and Andy will have a full squad to pick from for the end of season run in.
