THREE HOME POINTS AT LAST!

BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 1 NORTH GREENFORD UNITED 0

At the eighth attempt SYCOB finally chalked up a home win with a late, late goal by Aaron Berry to secure three valuable points against fellow Evo Stik Southern League Central Division strugglers North Greenford United.

It was The Blues who had the first shots in anger with David Mann and Jack Read firing harmlessly over in the first quarter of an hour. Tom Gant had a go for SYCOB on 19 minutes before the first real goal scoring chance fell to Danilson Vincente on 21 minutes when he rounded Melvin Minter in the North Greenford goal but his weak shot was easily cleared by The Blues defence.

On 27 minutes Omari Patrick was tripped in the Greenford area and The Rams were awarded a penalty. However, Alex Murray's effort was easily saved by Minter and it looked like it was going to be (another) one of those days for SYCOB.

The second half began with Aaron Couch hitting the North Greenford post after rounding Minter and the same player had a chipped effort on 53 minutes easily saved by The Blues custodian who along with defender Michael Dart was keeping his side in the game. The Rams were the more attack minded of the two teams and on 60 minutes a SYCOB corner saw a Tom Willment header cleared off the line as well as follow up shots from Danilson and Lee Togwell as the North Greenford goal led a charmed life.

Just as it seemed a goal-less draw was to be the outcome, on 94 minutes Omari Patrick skipped through the Greenford defence and put in a shot / cross that Aaron Berry stuck a foot out to deflect past Minter and hey ho let's go The Rams had a home win at last!

In truth SYCOB could have won by four or five goals and they must stop being wasteful with their chances as much better teams than North Greenford United are lined up over the next few games. Hopefully this deserved victory will act as a springboard for future wins and see The Rams climb the table away from trouble.
