AWAY DAY BLUES FOR THE RAMS

AFC DUNSTABLE 1 BEACONSFIELD TOWN FC 0

Beaconsfield were left to rue not making their early pressure count as they left Creasey Park with nothing to show for their afternoons efforts.

In a game dominated by both sides defences it was the home side who had a first sight on goal, on two minutes, when BJ Christie turned his marker and sent his shot just wide. However, the next 15 minutes saw Beaconsfield well on top and they should really have been two goals to the good.

On six minutes a Rams break saw Aaron Berry elect to pass rather than shoot when well placed and this led to blocked shots by Ollie Jones and Jack McKnight before Charlie Losasso's effort bounced off the AFC bar. Two minutes later a Spencer Maw cross found Losasso but his shot was met with a decent save by ex-Ram Garry Malone. A series of decent moves let down by the final pass and decent last ditch defending saw Beaconsfield's efforts thwarted though Charlie Losasso nearly broke the deadlock when his 31st minute shot went narrowly wide.

The second period saw the two evenly matched sides share periods of possession though neither keeper was forced to make a save of note. However, AFC kept attacking the Beaconsfield right and on 85 minutes this paid dividends as Christie found space to put in a cross that found Newman Carney who shot through a crowded area to put his side a goal to the good. Despite an 86th minute Losasso free kick Beaconsfield didn't look like finding an equaliser and it was a relieved home side who consolidated their bid for a Play Off position whilst The Rams bid farewell to their ambition of reaching them.

If Beaconsfield had taken one of their early chances they would surely have come away with at least a (deserved) point. However, they can look at the debuts of James Taylor and Aaron Jewell and the return of keeper Brendan Hazlett as positives and can hopefully consolidate a Top Ten slot for the end of season run in.
