Beaconsfield beaten by the weather

Southern League Division One Central

Berkhamsted 1-2 Beaconsfield Town

(Match Abandoned)

After 2 pitch inspections before kickoff Beaconsfield saw the match abandoned moments before half time, leading the game 2-1 away at Berkhamsted.

Beaconsfield were dealt early blows, first losing Ben Tricker to injury, and then going behind to a Berkhamsted goal scored by Luke Andrews, who headed home unmarked at the back post.

Beaconsfield dug in and found an equaliser through Manu Oke – William, looping his header over the keeper following a chipped free kick from Akiel Raffie. Moments later Beaconsfield took the lead. Captain Matty Harriott received the ball 20 yards out and fired a powerful shot into the back of the net.

Beaconsfield looked well on top going into the break. However, with 30 seconds left to play in the first half, the referee called a stop to the game. After discussing it with both linesmen she then abandoned the game, feeling the pitch was unsafe to play on.

The game will now have to be replayed on a rescheduled date.
