Beaconsfield can't see off Leverstock Green

Southern League Division One Central

Beaconsfield Town 2-2 Leverstock Green

Ram of the match: Usman Lalustani

Beaconsfield Town were left frustrated against bottom 4 side Leverstock Green, drawing 2-2, in a close game at Holloways Park.

Beaconsfield made it look easy in the opening half, going close on countless occasions, and playing excellent football. They went 1-0 up when captain Matty Harriott played an inch perfect pass to Manu Oke-William, who went round the Leverstock Green goalkeeper, before playing the ball across goal to the on rushing Usman Lalustani to fire home the opener.

Beaconsfield looked well in control approaching the interval and probably should have gone in further ahead. However, against the run of play Leverstock Green found a way back into the tie. An excellent pass over the Beaconsfield defence was controlled well and then curled into the bottom corner by Rawn Seale on stroke of half time to send the game into the break poised at 1-1.

The second half looked to be a similar story, with Beaconsfield taking the lead once again, within moments of the restart. This time a great move ended with Lalustani crossing the ball in for Oke-William to head home. It looked like the start of a comfortable half for the hosts, with them spending most of the opening 15 inside the visitors' half. However, once again Leverstock Green found a way to level, against the run of play. In the 60th minute Beaconsfield failed to clear a corner fully, and the ball was played back in for Greens new boy Zenon Stylianides to beautifully back heel home to draw the visitors level once more.

Beaconsfield piled on the pressure and should have taken the lead again as the game approached its conclusion but could not find the finishing touch. They will rue missed chances as the game finished 2-2, in one they would have expected to win. Beaconsfield will look to return to winning ways on Saturday 11th January when they host Leighton Town.
