Beaconsfield Town 2 - Kempston Rovers 4

A strong second half performance saw visitors Kempston Rovers deservedly take all three points back to Bedfordshire.

They took the lead on two minutes when a corner found Nathan Tshikuna unmarked at the back post to nod the ball home. This clearly gave The Rams a wake up call and Lewis Putman went close on eight minutes before Aaron Minhas equalized on twelve minutes when he made the most of a scramble in the Kempston box to slot the ball past Martin Conway.

Within ten minutes Beaconsfield had the lead as an Aaron Morgan cross found Minhas who controlled and fired a great shot past Conway. The Rams nearly had a third on the half hour mark when a header by Putman went inches wide whilst Jamie Norris in The Rams goal made good saves from Jake Newman and Michael Lyon to preserve the home sides lead.

The second period saw both sides set out with attacking intentions. Newman saw a goal bound effort cleared off the line by Mitch Gutteridge on 54 minutes whilst sixty seconds  later Putman had an effort saved by Conway. The visitors, however, grabbed an equalizer on 62 minutes when the lively Tshikuna went on a mazy run and fired off a shot that took a strong deflection to wrong foot Norris.

A Putman free kick on 64 minutes brought a fine save from Conway before Tshikuna and Newman played a one-two on 69 minutes with the later firing past Norris to give The Walnut Boys the lead. Newman nearly extended the lead on 71 minutes but was thwarted by Norris whilst Minhas, on a hat-trick, saw an effort saved by Conway sixty seconds later. A fine move by The Rams on 77 minutes saw Minhas set up sub Spencer Bellotti but his effort was blocked by the Kempston defence.

The points were finally secured on 84 minutes when Luke Heneghan was allowed time and space to shoot and though not a particularly strong effort it still somehow found its way into The Rams net.

For the neutral this was a free flowing highly entertaining game between two teams who should be “in the mix” come the end of season. For the Kempston followers it was a fine away result and performance. For the Beaconsfield faithful it was frustrating to see the poor home form continue but there were still positives to be taken into the next match, on the road to AFC Dunstable, so Come On You Rams!.
