Ram of the Match – Sam Togwell
After enduring the heartbreak of being on the wrong end of Late winners in 5 goal thrillers with Merthyr, Bracknell and Swindon Supermarine, this time it was Beaconsfield who came out on top after leaving it late to finally claim the three points against a hard-working Yate Town side looking to halt their horrendous losing streak.
It was the away team who started brightest, with Kyle Tooze bringing out a fine save from Kie Plumley on eight minutes. Five minutes later, however, home centre half Luke Neville got the end of a Kyle Reid corner to put The Rams a goal up but they were pegged back on 19 minutes when an uncharacteristic defensive mix up let in Lucas Tomlinson to draw the visitors level.
The Rams lead was resorted on 29 minutes when a fine move involving Dan Bradshaw and Kyle Reid saw the ball fall to top scorer Nathan Minhas and his first time strike easily beat Martin Horsell.
The second period was only five minutes old when The Rams failure to clear their lines saw Ben McLean put a soft header past Plumley. The busy Tooze then saw an effort fizz just wide of the home goal and for some time the visitors looked likeliest to snatch the winning goal. That wasn’t to be as in the 89th minute Dan Bradshaw found just enough space to curl a beauty past Horsell to secure the points.
This was the first home game for new Rams managers Neil Baker and Jon Underwood and their unbeaten start now stretches to five games. Four wins One draw 12 goals scored and only five conceded. With midweek trips now behind them for this season The boys will be hoping the run can continue on the road again at Winchester next Saturday.
