Beaconsfield put in a great performance to earn a well deserved point at high flying Royston Town though another injury to the only recently returned Charlie Losasso did take the gloss off the day.
As early as the third minute Ryan Haugh saw a cross crash against the Royston bar, hit the back of a Crows defender and then fall safely in to the arms of a relieved Ron Yates in the Crows goal.
Royston took a while to get going but eventually found their rhythm and Sam Bunting had to be alert to keep out free kicks from Chris Watters in the 23rd and 38th minutes.
Just before half time Charlie Losasso went on one of his mazy runs but was clipped by Scott Bridges, the contact enough to see The Rams top scorer having to be helped off the pitch, clearly in pain both physical and emotional. Let's hope that he makes a speedy return.
The second period saw The Rams very much on the attack with the excellent Ashley Artwell having a shot saved on 57 minutes and Aaron Berry having an effort disallowed, presumably for offside.
A Crows corner on 63 minutes, however, found its way to Ryan Towner and his shot was deflected by Tim Wohlfiel to wrong foot Sam Bunting and give the home side the luckiest of leads.
The Rams hit straight back though - and what a beauty it was, Ryan Haugh hitting a screamer from outside the area that flew past Yates to give the youngster his first senior goal.
Five minutes later Beaconsfield had the lead as a great turn by Artwell completely fooled the Royston defence and he set up the busy Sam Deadfield to poke the ball past Yates.
Deadfield also had an effort saved by Yates ten minutes later but it was Royston who completed the days scoring when a ball into The Rams area got held up in the mud of the penalty area and Towner was the first to react and he slammed the ball past Bunting.
There was still time for Sam Deadfield to see a cross-cum-shot bounce off the Royston bar before a highly entertaining second half came to an end.
After the disaster of the previous week against Leighton Town this was a much improved TEAM performance from Beaconsfield. A draw was probably a fair result - (and one most of us would have settled for before kick off) and the growing maturity of youngsters like Tim Wohlfiel, Ryan Haugh and Marc Ethelston is a definite plus for the future of the club.
