Beaconsfield's last home game of the season ended in a narrow defeat to Play Off chasing Egham Town.
A fairly even first 20 minutes saw both sides midfield's with plenty of the ball but little in the way of attacking intent, neither goalkeeper seriously tested. On 25 minutes however, a slip by a Sarnies defender let in Charlie Losasso who pulled the ball back for Jack Lyons to notch up his third Beaconsfield goal. Three minutes later it should have been 2-0 as a run by Aaron Couch saw Aaron Berry beat keeper Jamie Norris to the ball but his effort hit the post, rolled along the goal line and was then hacked away. Berry also had a header over when well placed - 30 minutes gone and The Rams should have been three up!
Egham are not Play Off contenders without reason and they soon got back into the game. One of a constant flow of crosses down Beaconsfield's right hand side saw Brendan Matthew go very close on 34 minutes and then two minutes later ex Ram Elliot Carey bravely dived to nod the ball home and the mood of the game seemed to swing towards the visitors.
The early part of the second half saw Aaron Berry shoot just over on 55 minutes and sixty seconds later Aaron Couch attempted a chip over Norris. Egham always looked lively on the counter and keeper Mohammed Ayoub had to be at his best to keep out a header from Luke Neville on 60 minutes. Two minutes later though, Ayoub was adjudged to brought down an Egham striker - a 50/50 call depending on where you stood in the ground - and the resulting penalty was tucked away by Brendan Matthew.
Apart from an Ayoub save form a Chris Moore header on 74 minutes the game largely petered out as Beaconsfield struggled to get any decent passages of play and Egham ran down the clock to ensure they got the three points they needed to move into the Play Off zone.
After the disappointment of Saturday's game at Bedford this performance was a marked improvement from Beaconsfield. Hopefully they can continue into the last game of the season at Runners Up Farnborough.
Come On You Rams!
