You know it’s not long until the season starts when the draws for the Emirates FA Cup and the Buildbase FA Trophy have been made! The Rams are feeling ambitious and are looking forward to the coming season.
Last year, The Rams had a great run in the FA Cup. In fact, they went further than they ever had before. The aim is to follow this up with another strong showing in the competition, and this starts with a away match against local rivals Chalfont St. Peter. The game is due to be played on Saturday 19th August and the winners will receive £1925.
Meanwhile, the Buildbase FA Trophy First Qualifying Round is due to be played on Saturday October 28th. Beaconsfield have again been handed an away draw and will play the winners of the Chipstead v Barking Preliminary Round tie. Should they prove successful, The Rams would earn a very handy £3250.
Rams manager, Gary Meakin, said "We start this year's FA Cup away to Chalfont St Peter, who we know very well. Although you would always love to start with a draw against a team in the league below, at least we don't have to do much travelling."
"It's only on the second Saturday of the season, so who knows how things will pan out. The best team on the day will win."
"We managed to receive a bye in the Trophy and will be playing either Chipstead or Barking away in the next round for a nice sum of £3295, so it will be one we want to win as clubs like ours need that sort of money from cup runs."
This year's league fixtures will be announced at lunchtime on Thursday 13th July, so keep an eye out for news. Come On You Rams!
