Rams Man Of The Match: DAN BROWN
The score-line read 1-0 to Beaconsfield Town but it could so easily have read six or seven nil as The Rams created and then failed to take chance after chance as they chalked up their first ever victory over Staines Town
The visitors took the lead as early as the 8th minute when Louis Stead fired home from a very tight angle to take his tally to three goals in five games.
Every time The Rams went forward they looked dangerous, Stead combining with Charlie Losasso on 13 minutes and forcing Manny Agboola into the first of many good saves. Losasso and Brendan Matthew then teamed up on 21 minutes and were again thwarted by Agboola whilst an almighty scramble in the Staines area on 27 minutes really should have resulted in a second goal but Agboola again came to the home sides rescue. In response Staines had only a 44th minute effort by George Fry that was easily dealt with by Ravan Constable in The Rams goal.
Tony Mendy was introduced at the start of the second half and within five minutes Stead set him up brilliantly but somehow the striker fired over. Five minutes later Baj Pashaj set up Mendy but he again failed to hit the target whilst another goalmouth scramble on 58 minutes saw Mathew and Jordan Ajanlekoko both see shots hacked off the line.
The Rams kept peppering The Swans goal with more than presentable chances – a 75th minute free kick by Mayowa Balogun needed only the merest of touches and it would have gone in! Beaconsfield just couldn’t get a second goal but fortunately it didn’t matter as Staines offered very little in attack, their best effort a deflected shot that nearly caught Ravan out.
This was the first ever win at Evo-Stik South Premier South for Beaconsfield Town and as the saying goes “a win is a win”. Manager Gary Meakin said afterwards “we didn’t just beat them 1-0 we battered them 1-0”. Hopefully this most deserved of three points will prove the springboard for a lot more battering!!
Come On You Rams!
