HOME WOES CONTINUE FOR RAMS

BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 2 BEDWORTH UNITED 5

For the second time this season, at home, SYCOB raced into a two goal lead only for the opposition to hit back with five goals. First it was Bedford Town on the opening day of the season and now it is Bedworth United who've left Holloways Park with all three points - glad we don't have to play Bedlington or any other teams beginning with Bed!

The Rams took the lead on ten minutes when a mix up in the Greenbacks defence left top scorer Aaron Berry with the simple task of putting the ball into an unguarded net. Five minutes later and he should have had his second - a great ball out of defence by Alex Murray found Omari Patrick who in turn crossed for Aaron to strike only to be thwarted by Denham Hinds in the Bedworth goal.

On 20 minutes Daniel Harris had a great chance to equalise for Bedworth but scuffed his shot. He was made to pay five minutes later when a really good move by SYCOB led to a dummy by Berry that totally split the United defence and left Lee Togwell one on one with Hinds and it was Togs who came out on top as he calmly placed the ball past the Greenbacks stopper.

On 31 minutes Berry had a great chance to put The Rams into a three goal lead when he was well positioned but his shot went just wide. That let off seemed to inspire Bedworth as within fifteen minutes of a possible three nil lead The Rams were pegged back to 2-2. First, on 39 minutes, Daniel Creaney got on the end of a chip over the top of The Rams defence to put the ball past Sam Bunting and then just before half time Luke Rowe hit a lovely volley past The Rams stopper as SYCOB failed to clear their lines. Half time, 2-2 and both sides playing good football..

The second period began with a well hit Lee Togwell free kick cleared away by Hinds and an onrushing Lee Thompson scuffing the spilled ball. On 61 minutes Ashley Kelynack set up Berry but the ball took a wicked bounce to wrong foot the striker and just a minute later Kelynack, set up by Ollie Jones, placed his shot agonizingly just wide. Omari Patrick then had a good run and saw his shot cannon off the Bedworth bar - 65 minutes and it really should have been 4-2 to The Rams.

As is always the case when chances go begging you can bet the other team will strike lucky and on 68 minutes a mishit shot by Marlon Walters took a big deflection and wrong footed Bunting to put Bedworth ahead for the first time. The Rams hit back immediately as both Togs and Kelynack had efforts cleared off the line but on 75 minutes Creaney made the most of a spilled ball by Bunting to make it 4-2 to the Greenbacks. Twelve minutes later and a well placed Daniel Dubidat shot confirmed the Bedworth victory much to the joy of their travelling support.

If The Rams had taken their chances it would have been them celebrating a 5-2 victory. At least the chances are being made - convert a few more whilst tightening the defence and somebody soon  is really going to get turned over by SYCOB.

Come On You Rams!

PS: A special mention to Ref Adrian Gillett and Assistants Daniel Simpson and Edward Henderson. They let the game flow, weren't over fussy, were firm but fair and not one booking was made. They too contributed to a good game of football.
