KEMPSTON ROVERS 1 BEACONSFIELD TOWN 1

Rams Man Of The Match: REECE YORKE

Kempston and Beaconsfield will have to try again on Tuesday to find a winner after playing out an entertaining draw though both sides will feel they had enough chances to have won the match.

The Rams started brightly and had an effort by Louis Stead ruled out on seven minutes after a foul. Two minutes later the home side's Luke Heneghan forced Ravan Constable into a fine save, one of many the Rams custodian made. The visitors, however, took the lead on 11 minutes when a Baj Pashaj cross was headed on by Reece Yorke to Dan Brown who stooped to head in past Martin Conway.

On 28 minutes the sides were level as a fine strike by Robbie Goodman flew through a group of players and gave Constable no chance. The Rams No.1 however did brilliantly to keep out an effort from Shane Bush two minutes later. Conway then did well to thwart a goal bound header from Alex Cathline sixty seconds later and two minutes after that Tony Mendy turned his marker but saw his shot bounce back off the post. The half ended with another fine save from Ravan to again deny Bush – one all at the break but could so easily have been three each.

A 46th minute shot just over by Tony Mendy got the second half underway whilst a superb 51st minute free kick by Louis Stead was heading for the top corner before a fine fingertip save by Conway. Stead also had a 62nd minute volley blocked on the line whilst Jordan Ajanlekoko saw his 63rd minute volley sent wide by a last ditch block by the besieged home defence. The Walnut Boys also had good chances, Bush again denied by a fine save from Ravan on 73 minutes amongst them.

Sub Charlie Losasso had a decent effort go inches wide on 75 minutes whilst on 88 minutes Tony Mendy beat Conway to a back pass and pulled the ball back to Brendan Matthew who with the goal gaping seemed to be impeded by a defender though the Ref waved away what appeared to be strong claims for a penalty.

In the end a draw was probably a fair result and the two teams will go again at Holloways Park on Tuesday to earn a place in the next round.
